For over 40 years - and after about a gazillion books - the MS Readathon has been igniting a passion for reading in children, all while helping people with multiple sclerosis.

About the MS Read-a-Thon

The MS Read-a-Thon inspires kids to read as much as they can, all for an incredible cause. The rules are simple. Read whatever you like, as much as you can, throughout the month of August. This year’s MS Read-a-Thon is now finished, but you can register your interest for the 2021 event here, and we'll keep you up to date!

Children can register with their school (teachers, you can register your class) or individually. Best of all, by joining our quest, not only will you awaken a love of reading, you will also be helping kids who have a parent with multiple sclerosis.

The ALL NEW MS Read-a-Thon

While we all appreciate a classic, we also know that children today want a modern approach (as do their time-poor parents). So, to make the MS Read-a-Thon more fun than ever before, we’ve got a brand new interactive website that lets kids write book reviews and rate their favourite reads. Fundraising has never been more fun. Kids love the MS Read-a-Thon and it’s never been easier or more exciting to take part.

Inspiring Reading

The MS Read-a-Thon inspires magical reading adventures and excites even the most reluctant reader. We’ve never found a teacher or parent who doesn’t want to inspire more reading, but we know in today’s digital world it can be tough! This is why our exciting new MS Read-a-Thon website is designed to enrich reading without an exhausting effort from you.

The MS Read-a-Thon works in the classroom or as a challenge at home! It is an amazing teaching resource, which will teach your class to love reading. Reading takes kids on incredible journeys of discovery, and we’ve created plenty of exciting and downloadable resources to really ignite a passion for reading.

Kids helping kids

Funds raised from the MS Read-a-Thon will help fund vital support services, like the special MS Family Camps. These camps provide an opportunity for kids who have a parent living with multiple sclerosis to spend quality time with their family, learn more about multiple sclerosis and bond with other kids who are sharing their journey. MS Family Camps are in huge demand, and to make sure everyone who needs them can go, your help is urgently needed!

What books can kids read?

The MS Read-a-thon is designed to inspire a love of reading, and kids can read and log any books they like. The more books you log, the more Reward Badges you will collect. You can even use the MS Read-a-thon as an exciting way to finish off the Premiers Reading Challenge! Need some reading inspiration? We have some lists we know kids will love.
